Donation Process
From Collection to Donation
Hospital
Opt In for Tissue Collection
Informed consent is obtained from each potential donor.
An FDA-required questionnaire is completed by our technician with each donor.
The questionnaire takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
Blood is collected from each donor for communicable disease testing.
Medical records are reviewed.
Hospital
Tissue Collection and Documentation
After the donor signs the consent and the donor questionnaire is completed, the tissue is collected after birth and packaged for processing.
Required consent is given by the donor.
A culture of the tissue is obtained by our technician.
The tissue is examined to ensure the amnion and chorion are intact.
The tissue is packaged to be shipped to a processor.
Processing Lab
Tissue Processing
After tissue acquisition is completed and packaged at the hospital, the tissue is shipped to a processor, where it is processed.
Tissue suitability is determined through multiple steps and testing. The final decision is made by the processor’s Medical Director.
NLTB supplies tissue to FDA-registered processors. NLTB and each processor have a Medical Director.

Once processing is complete, the processor’s Medical Director makes the final release decision.
